Sorry ... Maybe Next Year

I had dinner with a close acquaintance of mine at DOME Cafe, initially to discuss about our trip to the Land of Smiles when suddenly he brought up about the Penang Beat Prelude. He told me that a big company is eyeing to organise and sponsor the event scheduled in Oct 2012.

Exotic Percussion from Thailand performing for Penang Beat Prelude 2011

Though I welcome the recognition over "that work of art" but I think I have to say NO this year for I am planning for a street party ... which based on my calculation if planned and executed accordingly may be another signature event of Georgetown. Penang Beat Prelude confirmed that the experimental music concept formula works but the success of the Borneo Street Dance 2011 organised by MOTOUR Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan sort of like putting the icing to the cake.Besides I am sooooo not going to join the craze of feeding music fests to tourists ...

Confuse?

Well, sorry I have yet to organise my thoughts on the Street Party so can't share now. But the inspiration from this Street Party is the feng shui principles of using sounds, merrymaking, lights and lots and lots of joy and happiness to revitalise and dispel lerthagic and weak chi (energy), thus improving luck and jump starting a stagnant life.

Our office is moving to a newly conserved colonial building in a once very famous street in the 1960s. During daytime, the place is busting with activities but come night ... it is like a ghost town, with all the old heritage buildings around. Usually, Chinese businessmen will call the lion dance group to grace the place as well as to dispel evil spirit and summon good luck through the loud sounds of drums, cymbals and gongs.

But I want to dispel evil spirits lurking along the street and summon good luck to all the occupants of the buildings along the street. I want people from all walks of life, race and religion to enjoy something shared, common but nostalgic ... musics of their youth (oppsssss too much information!)

I am also drawing inspirations from the streets in the Universal Studio of Singapore. If Singapore can turn their roads into an F1 International GP Circuit ... we may turned our beautiful streets into a living Universal Studio especially now that the State has declared the area as Car Free every Sunday.

Hmm ... having said that as I may not be in the position to do so ... perhaps someone may consider proposing to Hollywood moviemakers to shoot film there. Wink wink ... I am very generous with idea today.

Someone Like You

I really love Adele ... starting from Rolling In The Deep. I love it when the singer in Hard Rock Penang sang Rolling In The Deep to live band. It usually got me into the mood. However, for Someone Like You ... we need a nice piano and a soulful voice ... Tersentuh hati akak bila dengar lagu ni for the first time. As if satu penceritaan on akak punya perchentaan yang tak kesampaian ... hahahaah! One day I must try sing this song in my Kotak Merah session.

But anyway, I had to say it's hard to turn something negative to positive. In the song, Adele sang ... "nevermind I'll find someone like you, I wish nothing but the best for you ...., Don't forget me, I begged, I remember you said, sometimes it last in love, sometimes it hurts instead"... Fuh meremang bulu roma akak when she get into that part. 2-3 kali ulang lagu ni ... part tu jugak yang buat bulu roma meremang.

Adakah orang nak wish macam tu to their ex-lovers? Usually after the break-up, you usually wish him or her to ROT in hell. And he or she met someone else, some people will use black magic or spreading bad rumours so that he or she will never live that "happily ever after". Sedih bila mengenangkan kejadian yang menimpa one of my staff. After 5 kids, one very jealous ex-admirer still couldn't get over with it ... macam-macam dia buat to my staff's wife. Santau lah, penuju lah aiyoooo ... Kan bagus if he just write a song about his pain and who knows like Adele, it became a chart topper.

One of my friend pernah pujuk me by saying ... "God is fair ... He will send good man to a good woman and bad man to a bad woman" ... Wonder I ni kategori mana ... hmmm maybe cute and forever young ... balik-balik yang mengetuk pintu hati yang muda belia jer auwwwww ... tak rela akak! Tapi I doakan I met "someone like you" yang like 10 years ago sebab sekarang that "you" dah boroi so tak lazat hahaahahahahahahaahah

To be honest, blogging to me is a very "positive" avenue in channeling your thoughts and feelings. I had been busy these last few months that it came to a point that I myself don't know which way I am heading to. Despite the "hoohaas" I felt empty inside (unfortunately stomach never empty hehehe). But I returned back to this blog once in a while, looking back what I had done in the past ... what exciting experience that I shared ... comments I got from friends and fellow bloggers. One most important comment ... "this blog lighted up someone's life" ...

Okaylah chow dulu ... Saja nak lift up my mood on this Moody Monday hehehe

Dirty Dancing - Time of My Life

FYI, Time of My Life has been one of my favourite songs. Song that will definitely bring smile to my face. Song that will brighten my day. Song that one day (...... and I seriously wish) will be my wedding dance number. Just the thought of it ... I am already on Cloud 9. Hahaha

I've been wanting to blog about this song when Glee Cast gave a new breathe to it in Season 2 Episode 9. It was truly mesmerizing listening to the beautiful voice of Quinn and Sam (sometimes it can be very boring listening to Finn and Rachel duet). However I was so busy and forgotten about it.

However, these passed few days, every time I switched on to Red.fm (here in Penang I listen to Red.fm most of the time) ... they always played the latest version and remix by Black Eye Peas. Aiyooo ... I can feel my heart bleeding mannnnnn..... How could somebody be so cold blooded and murdered this wonderful song!!!!! Really ... my heart cannot take it!

To be honest, when I first saw this movie yearssssss ago, how I wish, Bau or Pasar Batu 10 (the nearest township to my house) have all this ballroom dancing lesson. Few years back, my housemate, Nancy, did suggest that we took up ballroom dancing lessons in Sri Hartamas. But that time, my job (and till now) took up so much time.

Then as time goes by, I think I won't be able to find a dancing partner like the late Patrick Swayze that will be able to lift me up ... hahahaha (bestnyer dapat ketawa besar camni). I saw a video of Jennifer Gray and Derek Hough in Dancing with The Star ... but sorry Derek, I still feel Patrick Swayze was better (May God Bless His soul).

Therefore people, I am dedicating the original version of the song taken from the movie Dirty Dancing to all of you out there. I am still waiting for that Time of My Life! But hope I don't have to wait too long.
