Panggilan Pulau - Island of The Eagles

I had been trying to complete this entry for weeks. Often, got sidetracked by entries on latest episode of Glee. Glee after all is ... addiction!

Anyway, 2010 seems like an island hopping year for me. Starting first with my posting to Pearl of the Orient (Penang), then followed by weekend getaway to Land of the Eagles (Langkawi) and earlier this month, Pearl of Borneo (Labuan). All thanks to dearest Datin Zaitun who was the iron lady behind the Water Fest events in Langkawi and Labuan. Coincidently (... and thankfully), both events were during my "most needed getaway" moments .... on Government Budget of course!

A House Is Not A Home

This is my fourth week in Penang and although things are much much better now, I can't help but missing some of my works and life in my previous Ministry. Especially just now when my ex junior officers sought my help for some policy papers. Ideas flow like the river and my fingers typing the words like "Mozart on his grand piano".

Gosh ... I finally felt some self-worth after days of trying to cope with new job scope, technical jargons and understanding some policy with regards to public administration and accountancy. Terasa sangat-sangat lah tak layaknya jadi Pengarah hahaha. Like just now during training e-spkb at AG Penang, I was wondering what was this Pesanan Tempatan. Hahaha rupanya LO!

Bad Reputation on Glee

Again ... I had to skip the most awaiting entry on my trips to Langkawi and Labuan in conjunction with the Malaysia Water Fest 2010 as my Gleeker's self is so overpowering at the moment. Well, after last week's "anti-climax" episode entitled Home, I took my time for this week's episode entitled Bad Reputation (click on the link to watch online) fearing another "disappointment". Ohhh .... don't get me wrong. Last week's episode was great just like all other Glee's episodes. It's just that after the The Power of Madonna frenzy, last week's episode was so pale in comparison.

Penang-KL-Labuan

Finallllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ... my moment of peace and rejuvenation. It's a wonder I am still "at one piece" after 14 grueling days as THE Cik Pengarah in Penang. Gosh, I think most of you should have known by now that despite there is the word "TOURISM" in the job position, I am far from being tourist in Penang. Obviously, I need a lawyer ... the job description is so MISLEADING ... hahaha.

I couldn't content my excitement when I received the fax for a coordination meeting in KL on 29th April followed by an invitation for the closing ceremony for Labuan Water Fest on 2nd May from HQ Office. Of course lah akak cepat-cepat reply "HADIR" ... Pronto! I terribly, terribly need the break ... I pun taknak kalah yer dengan Cikgu Yoyop yang sekarang telah "discrub" .... "everywhere" ... wink wink

Third Culture Kids

Had my favourite breakfast of medium portion "kicapless" Wanton Mee with my dad along the street behind Chowrasta Market this morning and for the first time in many, many years I was able to debate with him about Penang politics. Of course since he supports the Opposition just like most Penangites, his view will be centred on being Chinese, Chinese rights and what Federal Government should do. To be honest, I don't know how he and my mum manage to keep their marriage strong all these years as they were totally opposite. Politically, socially and economically .. hahaha.

"Sorry dad. I for once do not share both you and mummy's sentiment when it comes to politics. I am a third culture kid and I believe many of us or our generation one way or another do not share your sentiment." And dad, it's both you and mummy's fault (ooo I would love to say that) ... Who ask them to fall in love and produce this cute and intelligent girl anyway! Hahahahaha
