Little Thing That Made Your Day

My dad and I were having breakfast at our usual coffee shop last week when we got acquainted with this lovely dame. She was screaming her heart out seeking for everyone's attention and was seated right behind me. Unfortunately, Coffee Shop Uncle and Aunty (whom babysat her) were too busy attending to other customers.  So the "lovely" auntie with her camera took the opportunity to snap her photos ... Enjoy!

"Lovely Aunty ... pick me pick me ... let me out from this misery"

"Lovely Aunty ... what are you doing? What is that thing that you aim at me?"

"Hahaha ... now I know what's going on ... quick take my cute pose"
Note: To the parents of this cute baby girl... sorry for taking her photos without permission. She was too cute to resist.

Super Junior - Super Show 2, Malaysia

I don't know which one excite me more at the moment. Watching the awesome performance or capturing it on my cameras .Oh yea... I brought 3 cameras to the concert! My EOS, my IXUS and of course ... new addition to my gadget family .. Si Beri Hitam. But I have to say here .... SuJu Saranghae....

I know I am a bit "over-age" to go ga-ga over these K-pop Boys but I just couldn't help it. Not only they are good looking, they are also great performers! Even my 4-year old niece Amber got a HUGE crush over them. Last CNY, she told us ... "I also know Korean song .... sorry sorry sorry". Yes, it all started with this song "Sorry Sorry Sorry".

Honestly, I don't know the name of all the 13 members. And I only know 2 of their hit songs .. Sorry Sorry Sorry and Doraego. But when Rachel called me months ago asking if I would like to go to the concert I was like OK. So when I asked how much is the ticket and she said RM 458... I almost fainted! Wow ... I was sooooo reluctant to part with my money that time since I needed to save for my Jakarta trip last January followed soon after by CNY. Plus I never spent more than RM 200 for a concert or performances.

But when she explained that the RM 458 ticket was for the Rock Pitt so that we could see the SuJu members better, my gut feeling told me to go on with it. It reminded me of an incident when I almost didn't join Jett and Emel watching Cuci The Musical just because I was not willing to spent RM 150 for a non-establish performance. After last night ... fuhhhh the experience was PRICELESS.

Akademi Fantasia taught me a thing or 2 about the Dos and Don'ts of LIVE Concert photography. I may not be a PRO yet but at least I know how to handle my "limited" camera lenses better and understand the advantages of my both my compact and DSLR. Paling penting ... to avoid disappointment at the picture quality and ensuring "Capture The Moment" as shown above. BTW, I really have MAJOR crush on the two boys ... Leeteuk (left) and Siwon (right). OMG! Both are 10 years younger than me.

For the ladies ... one important tip if you bought a Rock Pit ticket and you wanted to take photos is make sure you wear a comfortable platform. I should have worn my Crocs platform yesterday ... I seem to forget that Sarawakians do not inherit their cousin Giselle Bunchen height hahaha. Can u see the handphone spoilling this pic? Haiyaa ...

Another great "technological" experience I had in this concert was to be able to capture and upload the concert photos instantly to my Facebook account via my Beri Hitam ... Anyway, I was really surprised to see so many young "schooling" teenagers in the Rock Pitt. Waa ... anak -anak orang kaya ker? Akak dah kerja 10 tahun baru mampu beli tiket SuJu dik oiii .. Even their cellphones were like "of the latest" models. Nasib lah akak baru bertukar ke Beri Hitam so taklah malu nak angkat-angkat tepon amik gambar depan depa!

I have to say ... I was so jealous of the media people. Not only they got the best seat, they got chance to brush shoulder with the boys ... oooo envy envy!

Overall, I really enjoy the concert despite suffering backaches from standing too long. Hehehe ... but I don't care as long as I could capture nice pictures, dance to my heart content and shout in Korean! Hahaha

Yuk Jalan-Jalan Ke Jakarta!

Hellllooooooooooo apa khabar semuanya? Harap semuanya senang-senang saja yaaa ... Maafin ya lambat diupdatenya blog ini. Waduh, banyak sekali mau ditulis dong ... How's my Bahasa Indonesia? Ok ngak?

Anyway, I went for a breakaway to Jakarta on 28 January to 1 February. I booked the ticket since October 2009 but to be honest, I langsung takde buat research atau persiapan nak melancong ke Jakarta nie. Busy bangat sih ... When I told people that I am going to Jakarta, most of them will gave me that "look" or said "why not Bandung?" Anyway, I am so lucky to have a dear friend like Ibu Syuhana that made sure our trip there ... gerenti ngetop! Though tak sempatlah nak round some of tourist attractions in Jakarta tapi I really, really enjoy my time there.

Betul juga kata orang - travel pun kadang-kadang kena ada perspectives dan objectives. And as an amateur photographer and professional food lover, Jakarta has so much to offer!

THE PEOPLE

Actually the people of Jakarta are very friendly and speak softly. Especially nya ... orang-orang Minang ya hehehe. I was quite afraid that they will find us Malaysian snobbish and rude so I tried to pick up their language and slang. Sampainya gue dikenali dengan nama "Raden Mulan Jamila" hehehe. Some can also converse in accented English - a bit like Filipino. In fact I was quite suprise that our guide, Pak Armin and Pak Henri picked up a lot of English words. Maybe sebab selalu deal dengan tourists kot.

Tapi semangat nasionalisme mereka pun kuat jugak, boleh dikatakan hampir setiap minggu demonstrasi... even kami tiba di Jakarta disambut dengan penuh demonstrasi sempena 100 hari pentadbiran Pak SBY. Getting the shot on my camera ... priceless!

TRAVEL IN JAKARTA

Hmm, based on my short stay in Jakarta, I can say travel planning and arrangement must be based on few factors. Shopping? Eating? Photo taking? Relaxation? To me, I have to agree with Ibu Syuhana, make sure at least tukarlah RM 1500- RM 2000. Kalau tak shopping sure habis kat makan atau spa treatments hehehe. Even I yang takde plan nak shopping pun "tershopping" jugak when found out garment material yang mahal-mahal dan berkualiti like lace, silk, chiffon and satin plus upah menjahit sangatlah murah. In a week, nampak sangat Rupiah is getting stronger compared to RM.

Mula-mula tukar RM tu Rupiah, mata sampai juling tgk too many 000 ... first time pegang duit juta-juta. Tapi after 2 days, I mula understand the value mcm how cheap is cheap in Rupiah. And honestly, if not because of the exchange rate, I can say harga barang in Jakarta is not cheap. For example, bakso with drink in Pondok Betung will cost u around Rp 8,000. But in shopping complex, bakso saja between Rp 10,000 to 18,000. According to Pak Armin, makan sederhana consist of rice and accompaniment cost between Rp 20,000 to Rp 30,000. My most expensive meal was Nasi Padang at Restoran Garuda which cost me Rp 80,000. Manakala yang paling "puas hati" was Bubur Ayam near rumah Mbak Nur which cost me Rp 4,500.

Kalau tak sure where to go in Jakarta, I cadangkan carilah hotel-hotel di kawasan Jakarta Pusat. I stayed in Hotel Ibis Arcadia at Jalan K.H Wahid Hasyim. The hotel is strategically located in the city centre, close to the Jakarta central business district, banks, embassies, large shopping centres, cinemas, entertainment and other attractions making it ideal for both business and leisure travellers. There is also another hotel under Ibis brand about 50 metres away, Hotel Ibis Tamarin.

At first, lambat jugak kenalpasti landmarks atau directions from hotel. After 3 days baru I faham apa tempat menarik to the south, north, east and west of the hotel. Contoh keluar pintu hotel, arah kanan ... kalau naik Bajjai jalan terus sampailah Tanah Abang atau Spa Taman Sari milik Mustika Ratu, or kalau first traffic light turn left ... sampai ke business district along Jalan Sudirman, or first traffic light turn right ... the famous Pusat Kuliner Jalan Sabang.

Kalau keluar pintu hotel, arah kiri ... the road will lead to airport or area Jakarta Selatan like Pasar Mayestik and Spa Sari Ayu milik Martha Tilaar (pesaing Mustika Ratu and within walking distant). Opsss ... ini bukan iklan untuk Hotal Ibis ya!

Huhuhu ... kalau nak story my whole journey kat Jakarta rasanya tak cukup ruang blog nie so tgk lah sendiri gambar2 travel I on this Facebook link.

MOST MEMORABLE MEMORY

Me and my friends were really looking forward to pamper ourselves at Spa Sari Ayu setelah berbulan-bulan mendengar kehebatan spa session kat situ dari Ibu Sohana. But unfortunately myself and Syu tak sempat nak booking appointments ... ada-ada jer kerja kat opis so we decided to make reservation once we reached there. So while explaining our itinerary to Pak Henri, Pak Henri told us "Oh saya tau tempat itu bu." and offer to make the reservation for us.

So a day before pulang ke KL, kitaorang jalan lenggang kangkung to Spa Sari Ayu, tak sabar untuk memanjakan tubuh yang letih bershopping dan berjalan. Once we got there, kitaorang heran why the kedai macam nak tutup and confused when the therapist macam tak kenal kitaorang. Paling kitaorang tak puas hati, therapist tu cakap, they cannot accept walk-in clients after 5pm. Apakah ....

So Syu called the number given by Pak Henri and baru kami sedar Pak Henri booked our session at Spa Taman Sari a BIG rival to Spa Sari Ayu (Taman Sari->Mustika Ratu, Sari Ayu -> Martha Tilaar). Hehehe ... nasib baik the Spa centre tak jauh dari situ and much much better!

And my photographic eyes turut dijamu dengan shot-shot yang sangat menarik! Klik here.

Confession of A Shopaholic

After months living like a pauper, I decided that today I should do some financial spending hehehe ... Women best secret weapon against stress, aging and boredom. Glory be to the Lord too that after almost a year, I finally manage to get myself out from "the hardcore poor category" (at least now di atas paras kemiskinan).

My destination today was Mid Valley's Megamall and The Garden. Waa so long didn't come here to do actual shopping! Anyway, so sad that despite everyone shouting One Malaysia ... The Festival of Lights mood seemed sombre and gloomy. Overshadowed by Chinese Mid-Autumn Mooncake Festival and Moslem's Eid-Al-Fitr. I noticed not many stalls selling Indian goodies this year too. Huhuhu apa sudah jadi! Hopefully Christmas will bring many many Season Greetings ... too bad coz this years festive seasons are so close to each other.

Nevertheless, this stall owner impressed me. Own by a Punjabi family, selling Indian sweets and goodies (look like Northern Indian's) like Jalubi, khalwa .. this lady owner speaks Hindi, Tamil, Cantonese and Malay fluently. I love listening her chatting her way entertaining her multi racial clienteles, urging them to taste her vast selection of goodies. I love some Indian sweets, mostly the milk based variety ... As if knowing that I frequent Brickfield or Jalan Tun Sambathan area, she asked me to take her card and visit her shop next time - Jesal Sweet House. I will definitely will!

Her milk candy with almond slices and gingerish aftertaste ... oh! How shall I describe it ... heaven! Soooo ... Punjab, the land of milk and honey ... As I was savouring each bite, I could here this song ringing in my ears .. "Tujhe deka to i janna sannam ..." a song made famous by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. So kuch kuch hota hai ...

After paying for my milk candy, something attract my attention! Huhuhu ... Playboy playmates? OOOooo ... this is delicious! Not want to miss a nice "subject" I quickly took out my Ix's (yea yea me and mie ol buddy snapping nice shots again).

Oh yea ... the Nigel Barker in me started working babeh! Okay strike a pose ... yes that's right!

Great! Now smile for mamma ... that's right! Perfect!

Ooo ... this model is so profesional, following my lense. Though I was not using my DSLR. Yes... you are so "pandai" girl. Bloggers will make you famous, not some amateur photographers hehehe!

Next stop was MPH bookstore. Collecting my renewed member's card. So far, am very happy being a member of MPH. Maybe because they always give great discount on best selling titles. However, if i need a free read ... I still prefer Borders. They do have reading lounge for members in MPH but its embarassing to ask the customer service people to unwrap a book and not buying it where as in Borders, most of the books are unwrap so we can take our sweet time enjoying and reading it. It's true, some people said that who wants to buy a used good. But not everyone can afford a good book everyday and have you been to the National Library?

Suna, I just wish there is a Border in KK during our uni time with all our craze and crave over Jude Deveraux, Johanna Lindsey, Judith McNaught, Julie Garwood ... hey why are our favourite authors start with J. Will there be a Jaime Kim? But first, Jaime Kim need to experience and master that juicy and steamy scenes first huhuhu. My taste of book these days ....

Hahaha ... so theological and controversial. I love Dan Brown ... no matter what! MPH members got 20% discount for this book.

My next stop is Jaya Jusco. I need airtight containers for my Bryggkaff Mellanrost (I think it means medium roast coffee in Swedish) and Earl Grey teabags. My mum has this wonderful habit of brewing fresh black good quality coffee in the morning, to start the day and later in the afternoon for tea time, the sweet smelling Earl Grey tea. So whenever I miss my mummy, I make myself a nice cup of fresh coffee or treat myself to a tea party of Earl Grey with scones, strawberry jam and cream.

For your information, I am suffering from a severe "Crocs Attack". I just couldn't get enough of these Dutch clogs inspired sandals after reading about it in a travel photographer blog on how these sandals solved his problems for an easy to clean, fast drying, durable, comfortable and hygienic footwear for all his travels. The first time I saw this sandal on Ida's eldest brother (who works in the State), I automatically labelled him as a person in dire need of a serious fashion lecture. Perhaps from someone like Olpic? I was like ... who the hell invented this fashion disaster footwear. But now I am a "convert". The black Mary Jane on the left is my new third pair. I have another purple Mary Jane with spider Jibbitz (love you Tom) in the car. Emel's had a Nemo Jibbitz ... so cute.

My face needs pampering so I stop at the Body Shop to get my Aloe Protective Restoring Mask. So far, I think Body Shop products suit my skin and my soul ... against animal testing, community trade, natural ingredients and love our environment policy. That is why I drive a "green" car hehehe

All these "trans fatty acid" food from all the open house has caused my body to loose it's shapely curves ... hahaha ... I know what you are thinking Suhaila! So I had no choice but shop for a new attire at Marks & Spencer huhuhu ... gambar plastik dia jer la ye.

Highlight of my trip to The Garden@Mid Valley was joinning the World Pink - World Without Breast Cancer Campaign. Can you identify which picture is mine? Saja buat diva pulak when I have no smaller change hehehe ... as shown in the photo below ...

But of all my spendings today ... the one that I am most satisfied is a lifetime membership to D'Aura Spa - One Stop Centre @ South City Plaza. Finally I found a spa that offers facilities like a clubhouse, not heavy on the pocket and various treatments to choose from. Plus, it boast to be the largest spa in Malaysia and very, very near my home. This spa was featured recently in Harian Metro.

I don't like spas that bundle expensive packages and force us commit to it. Whenever I need a treatment or two, its either RM 58 each or RM 118-150 for 5 treatments. I can bring my friends over to entertain and unlimited usage of the facilities provided. They can also use my card for members priviledges. Hmm... guess what, I am treating Nijah to a private bachelorette party cum wedding spa treatments this Wednesday. Oh I just can't wait ...

The Best Memory of AF7

Nope ... it's not the moment when Hafiz was announced the winner but the time we tried to get our picture taken jumping on the stage, showing our excitement. Everytime I look at the pics I will laugh my heart out!

It has been a while since I was "able" to jump that high, you know with the cellulites, 1 pack ab and stuff. Dunno how many jumps we did tat nite to get that "near perfect" shot as shortlisted here.

Take 1 : Opsss... we were just about to jump when the "amateur" photographer snapped this.

Take 2: Opsss ... Mie and Kazen Davidson jumped with all our might till our "mid section" exposed. Jet and Emel was not ready ...

Take 3: I had to say, Jet has best jumping pose here ... with an exception ... u know wat ... hahaha

Take 4: Hahahahahaha ... this was the best shot we were able to get. Mel, paksa kau megang Jet sak dapat berada satu paras ngan kamek urang ho .. Kazen, bersungguh kau melompat eh...

Note:
Was thinking of kickstarting an active lifestyle yesterday ... too bad it rained (excuses, excuses, excuses)

The Orange Whale

Yesterday, I singgah kejap kat Mid Valley Megamall after my insurance agency training for a brunch. Masih "fenin-fenin" kena basuh dengan my GSM reminding me over and over again to work hard and earn more. Boleh travel round the world sponsored by Great Eastern, boleh tukar2 kete setiap tahun. Tapi kan, for the last 6 years in this line, I nie memang tak makan2 juga nasihat dia ... hehehehe.

Anyway, masa I turun dari Food Court on the 3rd floor, I happened to pass by a colouring contest conducted by National Geographic on The Blue Whale. So there were lots of children age 11 and below participating. At first, nothing seems to be interesting until I saw one kid coloured her whale orange while the others in multiple shades of blue.

Suddenly I was brought back to my kindy days, during Art and Colouring session, when my Lao Shi asked us take out our colouring book and colour the picture according to the picture guide. So happen that day the picture was also of a whale. According to the picture guide, we must coloured it pink. I think everyone in the class started to follow my Lao Shi instructions except for me. I think pink for a fish was soooooooo "tak cantik" so I coloured mine green instead. The funniest part was, Lao Shi would normally choose the nicest masterpieces and displayed it for us to see on a board. Disappointed that mine was not chosen, I posted mine on the board myself hehehe...

That's me. Love to do things differently. In my own way, at my own pace and on my own sweet time. Especially when there is no law that says we can't be different. So I guess that's answer my own question why I love my life as it is. Belajar pure science, ambik programming. Degree in IT kerja marketing (first job). Patut buat admin, berangan nak jadi lawyer. Suruh sambung belajar Masters, buat pulak professional studies.

However, I truly hope that girl who coloured her whale orange would one day would continue painting her whale orange coz the world need normal people to do normal things but extraordinary people to colour it. I didn' stay to know the result, but girl ... ur orange whale ROCKs!

Photoshoot @ Mie Casa

Yesterday Mie Casa was selected as photoshoot location for CNI For A Better Life Campaign ... kempen saja2 diadakan oleh I, Hadi, Safura and Fauzi. Kena la pakai kamera yang hebat dan diambik pulak oleh photographer professional. Point and shoot camera mcm Ixus I tuh selayaknya untuk blog rambomadonna jer hehehe... Pd masa yang sama kitaorg pun nak merapatkan hubungan antara downline dgn upline and strengthen our team synergy.

BTW, we are still working on materials for the blog and marketing plan programmes. Nantilah I share-share ... anyway people, lantaklah apa orang nak cakap pasal joining MLM or kerja part-time or buat bisnes kecik2 ... i am single woman yang merantau jauh from Land of The Hornbills, all alone in a metropolitan city. I rather fill my life with meaningful and profitable activities daripada letting loneliness and bitterness deludes me .. kan?

So selain photoshoot, Fauzi and Hadi pun tgh tolong pasang my brand new CNI Waterlife Treatment System. Yes, Jimmy Hiew and Samsir Saudah ... Waterlife Treatment System OK. Reverse Osmosis system yang dibangga oleh Ken Chow is so yesteryears ... anyway people, dulu myself, Jim and Sam buat industrial training at satu kilang yang selain buat botol, they also produce and market RO water. Ingat dulu Mr Ken make me memorize every type of water and treatment system available in the market masa tu.

Pada masa yang sama kitaorang buat ujian PH, chlorine level and paras logam berat dalam air yang sebelum dan telah dirawat melalui CNI Water Treatment System. Itu pasal lah terus buat photoshoot. Lagipun Joint Management Body Fortune Park memang HOT sekarang on bekalan air kotor dari SYABAS. Hasil ujian nanti I muatkan dalam blog lagi satu.

If Mr Ken tgk water treatment system nie, sure dia boleh jadi downline aku hehehe ... ada 7 filter lagi kau! Ada UV filtration (as in RO), boleh oxygenised and ionised .. feature yang sememangnya I cari.

Of course sebagai tuan rumah mestilah entertain our guest. My version of Spiral Pasta in Cream Sauce.

The Secret of Number 6 ...

Sorry olpicture .. I knew this tag has long overdue but for the fun of it, last night I buat jugak seperti arahan tag tersebut. BTW, number 6 is regarded as one of the most auspicious number in fengshui.

Other auspicious number is 1 and 8. 2,3, 5 and 7 is regarded as inauspicious. 9 on the other is a powerful number. Kalau pair dengan auspicious number berganda lah ONG ny, kalau pair dengan inauspicious number bergandalah TAK ONG nya.

Generally that's the principle. Having said that fengshui nie pun banyak schools dia. Ada Nine Star, Black Hat, Landscape, dan ada jugak Eight Mansion. Personally I banyak apply yang Eight Mansion and Flying Star with Four Pillars Calculation. Hehehe... personal clients I kat KPKT ramai OK.

What It Represent?

The Number 6: represents self-harmony, balance, social responsibility, family, creativity Possible challenges: giving too much, becoming reclusive
Suggestions: seek balance between giving to others and self-care, get out into the world

(Source : Modern Feng Shui website)

The Number 6 in Flying Star Feng Shui

'Stars' in Feng Shui refer to body of Qi. These bodies of Qi move in a certain pattern according to Flying Star Feng Shui Calculation. In general, the Annual Star exerts the strongest influence, followed by the Month and then the Day. The Annual Star 6 White influence Authority, Power and Good Name.

(Source: Joey Yap Tong Shu Monthly Planner)

Annual Star 6 in Year 2009

The Number 6 HEAVEN Star Flies To The Southwest. The heaven star is regarded as very auspicious, attracting good fortune that comes when you least expect it. Those who gamble will benefit if their rooms are in the Southwest of their homes. Houses with main doors located in or facing Southwest also benefit. This manifests as added power and authority. Those born under the Monkey and Sheep animal signs will especially benefit from this auspicious star. To strengthen the star, place a 6 tier water feature in this area.

Grandma's Funeral - Part 2 The Story Behind

People say a picture can say a thousand words ...

Though my sister Joan was the only one posing for the camera, when this picture was taken Thomas (the one in blue shirt) was explaining to my mum and Aunt Lara (my Filipino auntie) that the way you fold the yellow paper with the silver square on the centre (heaven money) will the determine it's value in heaven. The more it resembles a gold bar then the more value it is in heaven ... later we asked him " Got shopping mall meh in heaven?" ... very kesian right, grandma so rich now but cannot spend it.

These are 3 Buddhist monks who came to chant prayer for my grandma. Often three monks recitals were not in harmony with each other because the one in the centre always doze off...

We were asked to close our eyes and concentrate on the chants. Aunt Rose was the only one who can remained in "meditating" state during the chanting.

We also hire a band for grandma's funeral. By the way, they were not playing "Another Sad Love Songs" OK ... My grandma got taste also maa .. They played all evergreen songs like Unchained Melody, The Green Grass of Home and some popular Chinese songs. Lupa nak minta main lagu Guns and Roses - Sweet Child of Mine...

This is just a normal snap. But actually while I was taking this picture, the sight of grandma's 7 children giving their last respect and see their mother's face for one last time before the funeral master closed the coffin door was so heart wrenching that I cried. I didn't realised that the rest of the family were crying too behind me including macho cousin Eddie and Ah Peng.

Do not attempt to do this at home.

At first we wanted to send grandma a big bungalow. Can get that easily coz I still keep one miniature bungalow "courtesy" of one unlicensed developer (barang2 geledah). Then we changed our mind coz nobody will help her to maintain the bungalow in heaven. So we thought of sending her a Porsche so that she can jalan2 in style maa... then we realised grandma had no driving license. Thomas suggested to send her the latest Nokia so that we can contact her, until uncle Tony said ... "how is she going to reload the prepaid?" ... nanti macam ada satu iklan Digi pulak... so we settle with this traditional transport lah ... global economic recession maa plus more environmental friendly ...
